$35 Non-Refundable Admission Fee
If you have not been previously admitted to UND, you will be assessed a 1-time, non-refundable admission fee of $35 (U.S. funds).
Military & Veterans Tuition Assistance

UND is approved to offer college credit courses through the Defense Activity for Non-traditional Education Support (DANTES) program.
The University of North Dakota accepts military and veterans tuition assistance. Contact your military education or veterans’ administration office to find out how you can qualify for tuition assistance.
Veterans Tuition Assistance
- Veterans who are affiliated with the Armed Services who qualify for education benefits may enroll in UND’s credit courses and receive financial assistance.
- Courses must be completed satisfactorily prior to receiving reimbursement.
- For further details, contact your local Veterans Administration Office or visit the US Department of Veterans Affairs website.
NOTE: Service members and veterans taking 100% of their courses online and who are enrolled in the Post-9/11 GI Bill may also be eligible for a monthly housing allowance. Refer to the US Department of Veterans Affairs for details.
Employer-Provided Tuition Assistance
UND accepts company payments for employer-provided tuition assistance programs. Contact your human resource department to find out how you can qualify for tuition assistance.
IMPORTANT! You will need to provide documentation from your employer stating the total authorized amount with your course registration. Please contact UND Online & Distance Education for course registration assistance.
Financial Aid
Open-enrollment, independent study courses that do not follow the semester schedule do not qualify for federal or state financial aid.
If you are enrolled in a combination of semester-based courses and open-enrollment, independent study courses, only your semester-based course enrollment will be considered for federal or state financial aid programs.

Scholarships
Open-enrollment, independent study courses that do not follow the semester schedule are NOT eligible for any scholarships* and tuition waiver programs at the University of North Dakota (i.e. Cultural Diversity, International, Employee, Graduate), except as required by statute.
*If you are completing a UND degree program through independent study, you may apply for the Ben & Ruth Gustafson Continuing Education Endowment at UND provided by UND Online & Distance Education for non-traditional, distance students.
