Software Requirements
The following basic software requirements are required for online courses.
- Active E-mail Account
- Operating System:
- Windows (2000, XP, Vista)
- Macintosh (10.2 or Higher)
- Internet Browser:
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer
- Netscape Navigator 7.1 or newer
- AOL 9 or newer
- Mozilla Firefox 1.0.3 or newer
- Safari 1.1, 1.2 or newer
- Additional Software:
- Word Processing Software (recommend: Microsoft Word)
- Free Software Downloads:
- Adobe Flash Player
- Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7 or newer
- Real Video Player
- Apple QuickTime
- PowerPoint Viewer (If you do not have Microsoft PowerPoint.)
- Word Viewer (If you do not have Microsoft Word.)
Hardware Requirements
Computer hardware requirements will depend upon the technical level of your online course as determined by your instructor. Online distance engineering courses require the following minimum requirements:
Computer Processor Speeds:
- Windows: 450 MHZ; 1 GHz or Higher (recommended)
- Macintosh: G3 or Higher*
RAM: 256 MB (minimum); 1GB or Higher (recommended)
Internet Connection: DSL/Cable (minimum)
Monitor Resolution: 1024 x 768 or Higher
Plug-In: ScreenWatch Plug-In for RealPlayer* (free download)
Scanner: used for scanning homework assignments
*NOTE: At this time, Mac Intel-based computers are not supported by ScreenWatch. This application is needed to view course lectures.
