Career Information

UND College of Education & Human Development’s online Master of Science in Elementary Education program gives you advanced preparation for teaching at the K-6 grade level.

By earning your master’s degree, you will expand your opportunities for advancement and pay raises within the school system.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, job prospects for preschool, kindergarten, and elementary teachers are expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations.

The best job prospects are for teachers in less desirable urban areas or in rural school districts. Most job openings will result from the need to replace the large number of teachers who are expected to retire in the next 10 years.

For specific information on the nature of the work, job outlook, and earnings, view the Occupational Outlook Handbook from the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.
