Degree Requirements
The online MSW program consists of the following requirements for individuals with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW):
- Successful completion of the advanced generalist concentration courses (36 credits) with at least a 3.00 GPA.
- Development of a program of study with a faculty advisor during your second semester of advanced generalist concentration courses.
- Distance students complete the Independent Study (Non-Thesis) Option, which includes an independent study project (SWK 997) and a final comprehensive exam completed in the last semester of enrollment.
- Completion of at least 24 semester credits with UND. A maximum of 8 graduate credits may be considered for transfer and are subject to the approval of both the School of Graduate Studies and the Department of Social Work.
- As an online student, you will need to meet a residency requirement that will include a brief on-campus visit (5 to 6 days in early November) during the first year of your MSW program.
