Faculty Spotlight

Cheryl Terrance, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, UND College of Arts & Sciences

Dr. Terrance is an assistant professor at the University of North Dakota. She earned her PhD in Social Psychology from Carleton University in 2000.

Her research interests include social psychological issues in relation to the law, gender issues, and discrimination within the courtroom. Specifically, she’s interested in examining how stereotype-based expectations, which arise from gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation, influence perceptions of victims. For the most part, she has examined these issues within the context of domestic violence and sexual harassment.

Other research interests include evaluating how abused women are perceived as mothers, and examining issues related to child neglect and “failure to protect” doctrines.
