This continuing education course is designed for persons who have little or limited previous exposure to the medical field and medical terminology. You will be introduced to good, medical word-building skills in order to begin to identify terms by their word parts.
You will learn diagnostic terms and tools, surgical terms and tools, along with other terminology related to health care fields and industry (including pharmacology, chronic disease terms, and medical financial terms). In addition, you will be introduced to common medical abbreviations used in the medical professions and in documentation.
Throughout this course, you will:
- learn common prefixes used in medicine, including prefixes that deal with sizes and numbers.
- identify common medical suffixes, including includes diagnostic, symptomatic, and surgical suffixes.
- define stem/root words that are associated with many parts of the body.
